Personally I think that sounds like a great idea. I'll have a word with our President and committee. The old Castleford participated in an inter-club with Wakefield , Normanton, and us. I'll have a word with Gerry Padget at Normanton. I'll get back to you presently.

Formal Invitation To Join The Competition !!!!!!

Hi there,

I’m Craig Robinson and president of the Pontefract Camera Club. We shortly have our three clubs competition (Pontefract, Wakefield and Normanton). I recently learned that Castleford has reformed and very pleased to hear it. Castleford was a part of this quite a while ago now, we were wondering if you would like to rejoin this fantastic competition. I would appreciate if you could reply either way so I could let all parties know.

Also - sorry everyone but I have a realy bad case of Man Flu today........ I will, therefore, not be venturing out today and so, will not be at the club meeting....

Have a look out on net Model later today as I had two photos for this weeks water entry and I am still drawn as to which would have been the better..

P.S. Also, many many apologies that I have not waited to discuss Craig Robinson's invitation and have, therefore, already accepted the invite and asked for rules and themes.

I have sent a follow up mail this morning.

I got a reply from my follow up of yesterday...... Here it is:

Hiya, Howard Tate of the YPU will be sending you the forms to fill out as the rules state you have to be a member of the YPU to enter the competition. I will again ask our competition secretary to forward the competition rules for you. Meanwhile get your prints ready as I think the competition is sooner than I thought. Hoping I can get this sorted for you in time as it would be nice to see an old club rejoin again.

I am sure that Mike already has the YPU forms.

From what I recall, we were deliberating over whether we should have Insurance cover..


I will send Mike an e-mail in a Mo.

Something tells me that there is a a breakdown in comunication, either that or some of the clubs don't want us to rejoin (as it was originally The four Clubs Competition !!!)
The competition is early next month and closing date for entries I believe is 30th April.

It may be a good idea if we formally ask if we can attend as guests to watch the competition being judged, If I remember correctly it is being held at Pontefract Camera Club this time and last time I went it was in a quite small meeting room !!!

As this forum is a full public access forum, I will simply say that I am " SAD " that we have not received communication from Wakefield Camera Club or a set of the competition rules from the secretary of Pontefract camera Club.

It is, however, true to say that we have not yet enacted upon our entry to the YPU as, last time we discussed this formally, we were not in a position where we had funds to release for the necessary insurance premium. membership of the YPU is a pre requisite of entry to the inter club competitions

Today, our Club has written to:

Pontefract Camera Club Chairman to confirm that we would have approx 10 in number who might wish to attend their 3 club competition night.

to:

The YPU confirming our continued existance and readyness to join. (remember, there was a small comment last year of "clubs come and clubs go") and our request for consideration and/ or application forms.

to and upon suggestion by Shaun:

Wakefield camera club to ascertain the contact details of their equivelent of Events Co ordinator in order that Shaun can correspond

It has been confirmed by Pontefract Castleford Club Chairman that we are welcome to attend the 3 club competition evening on THURSDAY 14th May.

Howard Tate has also confirmed that he is going to snail mail the YPU appliocation forms
